Mayoral Prayer Breakfast – La Crosse

includes a meal, a time of offered prayers, special music, and a keynote by Jim
Bontrager, a U.S. Marine and President of the International Conference of Police
Chaplains. He is the founder and director of Warrior on the Wall, which addresses law
enforcement suicide, family breakdown, and the emotional and spiritual challenges
unique to the profession. In 2015, he was honored with the Sagamore of the Wabash
Award, Indiana’s highest civil honor recognizing distinguished service to the state, by
Indiana Governor Mike Pence.

Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe Mexican Baroque Concert

Music from New Spain. La Grande Bande, an ensemble of professional orchestral and vocal specialists in the Baroque period, conducted by founder Michael Asmus, will present music written by Juan Gutiérrez de Padilla, the music director of the Basílica Catedral Metropolitana in Puebla, México from 1628 until 1664. This is a not to be missed opportunity to hear grand, indigenous, Mexican Sacred Music in Our Lady’s Shrine.
Join us as we celebrate the music of Juan Gutiérrez de Padilla, the Cathedral’s famed music director from 1628 to 1664. His music played a key role in the Cathedral’s consecration in 1649.
