  • Pro-Life Breakfast & Talk by Emily Geiger - La Crosse

    A Pro-Life Breakfast and Talk will be held on Saturday, April 27 in St. Joseph Hall at Providence Academy. The breakfast begins at 8:45 a.m. The speaker will be Emily Geiger, and her talk is titled “Six Tips for Talking to ‘Pro-Choice’ People.”

    Emily Geiger is director of education and outreach at Equal Rights Institute. She is the former co-president of Oles for Life at St. Olaf College, where she worked to transform campus culture using ERI’s apologetics to foster respectful and productive dialogues about abortion. At ERI, she writes, develops curriculum and teaches pro-life advocates how to change minds, save lives, and promote a culture of life in their communities. A sought-after speaker, Emily frequently presents lectures on college campuses, in high schools and for churches and conferences. She regularly appears in interviews, including appearances on MSNBC, BBC Newsday, EWTN, Focus on the Family, Relevant Radio and Christianity Today.

    Men’s Choral Concert: A Performance of Duruflé’s Messe “Cum Jubilo” at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe

    Visit the Shrine of our Lady of Guadalupe on April 28, 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. to hear a magnificent performance of Maurice Duruflé’s Messe “Cum Jubilo” by a men’s choir. This choral masterpiece blends traditional Gregorian chant with modern harmonies. The “Cum Jubilo” is a setting of the ordinary of the Mass that blends intricate organ accompaniment, rich harmonies, and soaring melodies, creating a powerful and uplifting musical experience. The piece is a testament to Duruflé’s mastery of choral writing and his ability to blend the old and the new in a way that is both innovative and deeply moving. This concert is free and open to the public.

    4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.     John Harmon chicken dinner (advanced tickets only for meal).

    The meal includes all-you-can-eat baked chicken, biscuits and gravy, beans, coleslaw, carrots, bread, milk/water and dessert.

    An Organ Concert at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe will feature Henry Dangerfield on Saturday, May 11 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

    Henry Dangerfield began organ lessons with Brian Williams in 2019 as an 11-year-old recipient of a student scholarship from the Southeast Minnesota Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. Since 2021, he has been studying with Raymond Johnston, Canon Musician at St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral in Minneapolis. In the summer of 2023, Henry had the opportunity to attend the Curtis Summer Organ Intensive, where he had lessons with Peter Conte and Alan Morrison, participated in a master class with Isabelle Demers, and performed on the Wanamaker Organ. As a finalist in the 2023 Albert Schweitzer Organ Festival Hartford, Henry was awarded the David Spicer Hymn Playing Award and the Audience Prize.
