    November 15, 2019  11:00 pm - 11:00 pm
St Anthony Spirituality Center, 300 E 4th St, Marathon, WI

THE GIFT YOU ARE: To God, to Self, to Others

    Silent Theme Retreat

We live in a world of material abundance, a world in which most of us find it easy to present loved ones with beautiful and thoughtful gifts. But do we find it as easy to share – or even to recognize – the gift of our very selves?

The gift you are is the most previous gift of all, but it is sometimes the most difficult gift to find. Begin or continue your search for this gift by joining us on this weekend retreat. Retreat sessions will help you explore the gift you are from both Biblical and Mindfulness perspectives. Meanwhile, the time, space and silence of this retreat will help you apply what you have learned in the sessions, contemplating and reconnecting with the gift you are – to yourself, to others and to the God who made you!

The retreat begins at 5 p.m. on Friday, followed by supper at 6:30. The retreat concludes after Mass and the noon meal on Sunday.

This 3-day retreat will be presented by Lee Ann Niebuhr, Rita Simon and Elizabeth Schussler. It is sponsored by Wisconsin Rapids area parishes, but is open to all. Space is limited to 70 participants.

Cost for the retreat: $190 per person.

To reserve your spot on a retreat, visit www.sarcenter.com or call 715-443-2236.

  • Happy - Not Stressed - Holidays -- Marathon

    November 22, 2019  11:00 pm - 11:00 pm
St Anthony Spirituality Center, 300 E 4th St, Marathon, WI

Happy – Not Stressed – Holidays

The holiday season can be a whirlwind of shopping, gift-giving, family gatherings, parties and activities, beginning right after Halloween, building to Thanksgiving, and continuing to gain momentum through the end of the year.

While this season is meant to – and can – bring feelings of spiritual renewal, love and cheer, it can also herald a season of stress, sadness and a sense of being unable to cope. Indeed, the American Institute of Stress indicates that 80% of us feel overwhelmed, stressed and “blue” during the holiday season.

This retreat will prepare you to experience the love, joy and renewal of the holidays, rather than the stress, sadness and burdens. Come, learn how to relax intentionally, to slow down and to quiet the body and mind! We’ll explore tools for spiritual and physical renewal that are both easy to learn and easy to use; we’ll also learn techniques for navigating holiday activities and family gatherings with spiritual light, grace and inner ease. This retreat includes not only a chocolate tasting session designed to help you avoid holiday overindulgence by eating mindfully, but also an opportunity to make a holiday prayer flag that reminds you where you want to stand and what light you want to hold during the holiday season and throughout the new year!

Registration begins at 5 p.m. on Friday, followed by supper at 6 p.m. The retreat concludes at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, with the option to stay and celebrate Mass for the Solemnity of Christ the King at 5 p.m.
