Your Community – April 2019

This article was posted on: April 10, 2019

Fr. Steve Brice, Fr. Al Burkhart and parishioners from Mary, Mother of Good Help Parish in Wausau accepts the “In My Name” award at the Lenten Luncheon in Wausau, on March 11, 2019.

Joe and Michelle Skemp received the “In My Name” award in La Crosse on March 20, 2019.

The “In My Name” award recognizes an individual or an organization exemplifying these words from the Gospel of Mark, “John said to him, ‘Teacher, we saw a man using your name to force demons out of people. But he wasn’t one of us, and we told him to stop.’ Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Don’t stop him! No one who works miracles in my name will soon turn and say something bad about me. Anyone who isn’t against us is for us. And anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name, just because you belong to me, will surely be rewarded.” (Mark 9:38-41).

To Do:

La Crosse | Msgr. Delbert Malin was presented with the Iverson Freking Ecumenical Recognition Award by the Bethany St. Joseph Corporation on Jan. 23, 2019. The award is presented yearly to acknowledge and recognize the dedication of people to ecumenical activities and community building. When reflecting on what volunteerism means, Msgr. Malin stated, “Churches and communities run on volunteerism. We couldn’t do it without everyone taking an interest in their passions. When in a group setting and an idea to meet a need is sparked and talked about, then stop talking and do something about it.”
