Congratulations FSPA 2026 Jubilarians

80 years: Class of 1946

Sister Pauline Wittry was born in Coon Rapids, Minn., and professed vows in 1946. She began her ministry in hospital dietetics in Wisconsin and later earned degrees in family sciences, counseling psychology and religious education. Sister Pauline served as a counselor and eventually became the director of pastoral care at St. Francis Hospital in La Crosse. She also worked in retreat ministry and spiritual direction, incorporating watercolor art. Since her retirement in 2015, she has been residing at St. Rose Convent, where she continues to serve through prayer and hospitality.

75 years: Class of 1951

Sister Louise Marie Guralski of Edgar professed vows in 1951. Over the next 36 years, she taught instrumental music to elementary and junior high students and served as the principal of St. Mary School in Colby. Later, she ministered as the director of religious education at St. Lawrence Parish in Wisconsin Rapids. After retiring in 2001, she continued to volunteer in parish ministry and music before serving as the liturgy coordinator and organist at Villa St. Joseph until 2021.

Sister Mary Boniface Kriener was born in St. Lucas, Iowa and raised in Waucoma, Iowa. She professed vows in 1951 and dedicated 47 years to her career as an X-ray technologist, serving in La Crosse, Idaho Falls, Idaho and Carroll, Iowa. Throughout her career, she held supervisory and instructional positions. A graduate of Viterbo University, she retired in 1998 and then volunteered in parish and hospice ministry. Since 2008, she has been serving through prayer and hospitality at St. Rose Convent.

Sister Catherine O’Neill, was born in Dorchester, professed vows in 1951. She served as a homemaker and baker for 20 years in Wisconsin and Iowa. After completing clinical training at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Methodist Campus, she went on to minister at Viterbo University and in pastoral care. From 1980 to 2000, she was the last chaplain at St. Francis Hospital. Following her chaplaincy, she volunteered and served in parish ministry. Now retired since 2018, Sister Catherine continues her ministries of prayer and hospitality.

Sister Mary Ann Wiesman was born in Stratford, and professed vows in 1951. She earned degrees from Viterbo University and Marquette University. For 48 years, she taught primary grade students in Wisconsin and Washington. After retiring from education, she served as a parish visitor at St. Mary in Marathon for 12 years. Since 2011, she has lived at St. Rose Convent, where she volunteers and supports ministries focused on prayer and hospitality.

70 years: Class of 1956

Sister Marcella Anibas was born in Lima, Wis., and professed vows in 1956. Throughout her career, she taught and served as a principal in schools across Wisconsin, Iowa and Utah. She also ministered in urban education programs in Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul. Later, she served in parish ministry, religious education and spiritual direction, becoming the first FSPA affiliation director. Since 2018, she has been living at St. Rose Convent, where she continues her ministries of prayer and hospitality.

Sister Catherine Kaiser, known as Doranne, was born in Stratford. She professed vows at St. Rose Convent and began her ministry as an elementary teacher in Iowa and Wisconsin. She earned degrees from Viterbo College, the University of Dayton and Catholic Theological Union. From 2014 to 2018, she served as a principal, pastoral administrator and FSPA mission councilor. After volunteering in La Crosse, she retired to St. Rose in 2024, where she currently ministers in prayer and hospitality.

Sister Dorothy Schneider, originally from Boyd, professed vows in 1956. She taught elementary education in Wisconsin from 1956 to 1990 and served as a principal in Marathon and Plum City. Sister Dorothy earned degrees from Viterbo University and St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. After completing her clinical pastoral education, she ministered in chaplaincy and pastoral care in Eau Claire and Wausau. Retired since 2018, she continues to volunteer at Holy Name of Jesus Parish.

60 years: Class of 1966

Sister Rose Mary Elsbernd, who grew up near Festina, Iowa, and professed vows in 1966. She earned degrees from Viterbo University, Seattle University and the University of Tulsa. Her ministry with FSPA included teaching, campus ministry and various leadership roles, such as vocation director, formation director and mission councilor. She also served as the director of Villa Maria Retreat Center and later served in spiritual direction while continuing to volunteer in the La Crosse area.

Sister Lisa Zmuda, born in Chicago, entered the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity in 1964 and professed vows in 1966. She taught and served as a principal in Wisconsin schools before transferring to SFSPA in 1982. She ministered in religious education and served as FSPA director of affiliation. From 1996 to 2019, she worked in information technology for the congregation and now continues ministry as a volunteer.
